Imagine Chris Damico's reaction to the news that the Wings selected goalkeeper Jim Larkin in the Edmonton re-entry draft.

Well, you'll have to imagine it because Damico won't talk about the situation.

Larkin is one of the top keepers in the league, and his selection makes it look as if the Wings aren't happy with Damico's goalkeeping. Damico has a 13.29 points-against average. Larkin has a 12.25 points-against average. Each faces the same amount of shots per game, although Damico's opponents likely get more quality shots.

Wings coach Kevin Kewley said having two quality goalies will help the squad. Sonny Dalesandro has started only one game.

"When a player like (Larkin) comes available, you've got to grab him," Kewley said. "Chris and I have talked. We'll deal with the situation as professionals.

"We picked up a real good keeper that can help us win games. You need a great keeper every night. It doesn't mean we're not getting the job done now."

Larkin is expected to arrive next week and will play once the club gets his visa. He is in the last year of his contract and will be a free agent next season, so he'll want to play and do well.

The Wings also picked up midfielder Damir Jesic off the failed Drillers franchise. However, he won't be arriving until January. Jesic, who had four goals and an assist in nine games, is finishing college.

Some smart, others not _ The re-entry draft gave NPSL teams a golden opportunity to improve. Some were smart; some weren't.

The Cleveland Crunch may have been the smartest. The Crunch took talented defenseman Todd Rattee with its pick and then purchased Harrisburg's pick for cash. Harrisburg's selection was one of the league's top scorers, Nikola Vignjevic.

"They've got a couple of impact players. They've changed their team," Kewley said.

Kansas City also charged up its lineup, adding defensemen LeBaron Hollimon and Chris Handsor.

Detroit, needing the most change, easily had the worst draft if players keep their promises. The Rockers, with the first pick, selected Martin Nash. They also took Paul Dailly and Carmen D'Onofrio. Three good players, but they all said they would not report to Detroit if the Rockers selected them.

And Buffalo, picking before Kansas City, had the chance to take Handsor. Instead, the Blizzard took Rick Titus, a lesser all-around player.

Quotable -- "This is Dino's (Delevski) first full season. He hasn't reached his potential yet and it's kinda scary to think what he's going to do when he learns more about the game."

--Wings forward Jason Dunn talking about his teammate, who was the NPSL's offensive player for November. Delevski led the NPSL with 33 points in seven games.

Etc. -- Toronto goalkeeper Paolo Ceccarelli was named the NPSL's defensive player for November. ... Toronto's Mauro Biello and Guilliano Oliviero got their 500th career NPSL point last week. Baltimore's Lee Tschantret earned his 700th career point.
